Website refreshed for Candlemas
The visual presentation of the Romsey Abbey Choir website has been thoroughly overhauled, with the look going live to coincide with Candlemas – the commemoration of Christ's Presentation in the Temple.
First launched in 1999 and last overhauled in 2002, the site features a more compact home page with prominent navigation links to the most popular pages on site, a sans-serif font intended to be easy to read on screen and on-site search provided by Google.
The greatest enhancements lie beneath the surface. Visual design specifications are now stored almost entirely separately from textual content, in cascading stylesheet (CSS) files. This means that the pages can be displayed without visual formatting, or with alternative formatting specified by the user, making them accessible to disabled users. Acesskeys – rapid keyboard access to important pages –provide additional assistance to such users.
Further enhancements to the site will follow over coming weeks.
