Serving up a great afternoon
Sam Ter Haar on January's table tennis tournament
A choir table tennis tournament was held on Sunday 30 January in the Church Rooms. It was a brilliant success as there's little to do in the winter and all the choir boys and many of the men love to play table tennis. I enjoyed it very much and my greatest satisfaction was probably beating Tim Rogerson 7-0.
I think that all the choristers enjoyed it as well as it was a fun thing to do on a dark winter evening before going on to sing Evensong. The tournament was organised in such a way that the senior choristers played their matches against other senior boys and the junior choristers and probationers played against each other. In each match the winner was the first person to 7 and the points from each match were added to the grand total. I am delighted to report that Dec thrashed Can and won a box of Celebrations as our prize!
I thank all the people that helped to make the table tennis tournament possible because all the choir boys had a wonderful time and I hope we can do more of it in the future. On behalf of the choirboys I would like, in particular, to say a big thank you to Louise and David Newman for organising the afternoon.
