Choirboys go bowling
Julie Thomas reports from Southampton Leisure World
On the evening of March 9 the choirboys, their parents and siblings met at the ten-pin bowling alleys at Leisure World in Southampton. As it was a Tuesday evening the Choir was able to have the lanes virtually to ourselves. To the delight of the choirboys who wished to bowl separately from their parents, we had some lanes for choirboys only with much merriment and hard competition to win on these. We also organised what turned out to be a much quieter lane for all the sisters of choirboys. We also had a lane for competitive Dads. There was a Mums' only lane and we even had some grandparents on one of the mixed lanes.
This family evening was a new event for the choristers and aimed to give them a treat for all their hard work in the Abbey each week and also to provide an opportunity for the choirboys' families to get to know each other better. I hope a fun evening was enjoyed by all.
